Dr. Charles Emory Titus, son of Dr. and Mrs. Harrison Shaw Titus, was born December 31, 1866, at Rhodes, Iowa. He passed away at the community Memorial Hospital in Postville on May 2, 1965, following a five day illness.
Dr. Titus received a degree in Veterinary medicine from the Iowa State College at Ames. He also received a degree in comparative medicine from Chicago Veterinary College, in 1907.
Dr. Titus was married to Ruby Scott at Baxter, Iowa, in 1911. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Heinz (Mary Catherine) Rose of Cedar Falls; two sons, Kenneth S. of Amarillo, Texas and Merle H. of Encino, California; three sisters, Kathryn MacMurray, Arcadia, California, Ethel Kennedy, Santa Maria, California, and Maude Collins of West Covina, California. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Dr. Titus formerly lived at Melbourne, Iowa. He had been a resident of Postville for the past 12 years having been a meat inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture at the Hygrade Food Products Corporation plant from February 1956 to February 1960. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the Schutte Funeral Home Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites. Interment was at Rhodes, Wednesday afternoon.
