Death of James Hartley

Mr. James Hartley, who has been tenderly cared for since February at the home of his nephew, Frank Bulman of Waukon, passed away Tuesday morning from the infirmities of old age.

He was born a son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hartley, at Dorchester, May 19th, 1856, and at the time of his death was nearly 90 years old. His wife was the former Miss Laura Schnose, of Sioux Falls, S. After farming for some time he moved to Lansing where he became an extensive property owner and lived for a long time before removing to Waukon about 30 years ago.

Immediate survivors include his only sister, Mrs. James T. Bulman of Union City township, and several nieces and nephews. His remains are at the Martin Bros. Funeral Home and the funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thursday, afternoon there at 1:30 p.m. and at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian Church of which he was a member. Burial will be in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery west of Lansing.
