Mata M. Ovel, 91, died Saturday in Oak Crest Manor. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Francis Xavier Basilica. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, where a parish Scripture service begins at 8.

Survivors include a son, Gerald of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Edna Budde of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Irene Kutch of Dubuque, Myrtle Schuller and Leona Waters, both of Waukon.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ovel was born July 29, 1900, in Lycurgus, Iowa daughter of George and Barbara Keffler Neirling. She married Louis "Jerry" Ovel on Nov. 15, 1921, in Dubuque. He preceded her in death in 1982.
