Marquette, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. Esther Ann McGowan, 86, who died Friday of the flu following two years of ill health, were held at the Methodist Church here Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Stanley F. Kenderdine, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Spaulding Cemetery.

Mrs. McGowan was born Esther Ann Biccum on April 7, 1850, at Montreal, Canada. She married William McGowan on May 1, 1876, and two years afterward they came to Allamakee County. Mr. McGowan was a commercial fisherman and they lived beside the Mississippi River near Johnsonsport until his death April 21, 1933.

The past three years Mrs. McGowan had made her home with her adopted son, William McGowan, at Marquette. An adopted daughter, Mrs. Ada Shannon, lives in LeClaire.
