Miss Nora Nelson Dies Of A Heart Attack In Office

Miss Nora Nelson, for the last thirty-eight years employed in the offices of the Malcolm V. Bolton real estate company, died suddenly in her office of a heart attack at 8:20 a.m. Friday.

She was one of the most widely known and popular business women in the city. As a result of newspaper popularity contests in former years she made one trip to Europe and twice won prize automobiles.

One of the charter members of the Business and Professional Women's club, she was active in work of the organization and for several years served as its treasurer, in recent years she had been a staunch supporter of the Town Hall and Newcomers club, having never missed a meeting of either. Thursday night she was with Grace Boston assisting with preliminary work connected with next season's plans for the Town Hall.

At the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Barnes, where she had resided since the death of Mrs. George Rugh with whom she had lived for thirteen years, Miss Nelson was in especially good spirits Friday morning.

Born 1877 in Lansing, Ia., Miss Nelson came to Cedar Rapids April 1, 1900 to accept employment with the Chamber of Commerce. On Sept. 15 of the same year she began her career with the Botton company.

She was a member of the Peoples church and for a long time active in the business women's club of the church. She was also a member of the Malta chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Her chief diversion was bridge, and she was recognized as one of the most accomplished players in the city.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Martha Cheshire of Marshalltown, who was expected to arrive her Friday, and Miss Emma Nelson of Lansing, a brother, Walter, of Chicago; and a niece and nephew, Louise and Matthew Cheshire of Marshalltown.
