Services for Thomas Water, 92, pioneer of the New Albin area, is being held Thursday morning at St. Mary's Church, Lycurgus, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Bakke and Hanson Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Waters passed away early Monday morning (Apr. 10) at the Vets Hospital in Waukon, following several months of invalidism following a broken hip sustained last August. He observed his birthday just last Sunday, Apr. 9.

He was born near New Albin, and lived there all his life, the son of Patrick and Bridget (O'Regan) Waters. He was married to Josephine Howes who passed away about 20 years ago. There were five children born to this union, one son, Raymond, having passed away. The surviving children are Floyd Waters on the home farm, New Albin; Vincent Waters, New Albin; Mrs. Florence Kinley, Harpers Ferry; and Harold Waters of California. There are 14 grandchildren. There are also three sisters, Miss Ella Waters, Waukon; Mrs. Joe Schwartzhoff (Margaret), Kellogg, Minn.; and Mrs. John Fahey (Winnifred), Cresco.
