Mary Plein, 71, Waukon, died Thursday, Dec. 17, in La Crosse Lutheran Hospital Hospital.

She was born Aug. 31, 1910, in Iowa to Peter and Katherine (Byrnes) Plein.

She was a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital for five years, Waukon Memorial Hospital for eight years, and six years at Good Samaritan Home, Waukon. She had also served in the Army for 12 years and was a lieutenant.

She is survived by one brother, Francis of Waukon.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon. The Rev. Roach will officiate and burial will be in Lycurgus Cemetery, rural Waukon.

Friends may call at the Hanson Funeral Home, Waukon, today from 2 to 10 p.m., with a scripture service at 8 p.m.
