WOODS, LAPOINT, COX, SCHOENING, SHERIFF, HOSCH

On Saturday, Feb. 22, 1941, relatives and the many friends of Jim Woods were deeply grieved to learn of his death which occurred early that morning at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Woods, Sr. He had been in ill health for the past two years and his death was caused by a stroke.

Deceased was born Feb. 19, 1889 in New Albin. he received his education in the New Albin school and in 1913 he was married to Miss Madeline LaPoint in La Crosse where he lived for several years, alter on living in Prairie du Chien until a few years ago when he returned to New Albin to make his home with his aged parents.

Mr. Woods was known to all as a man of kindly disposition who assumed his responsibilities with willingness and efficiency.

He is survived by his parents, two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Marietta) Cox of Key West, Fla., and Miss Josephine of La Crosse; three brothers, Alex, William and Harold of Prairie du Chien, and three sisters, Mrs. W.B. Schoening of Minneapolis; and Mrs. James Sheriff and Mrs. Peter Hosch of New Albin.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the parental home, with the Rev. R. Clark Anderson, pastor of the M.E. Church, officiating. Burial was in the New Albin cemetery. Pall bearers were Otto Hurley, Miles Tippery, J.J. Higgins Jr., G.H. Welper, Frank Weymiller Jr., and Louis Tabatt.

Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Geo. Mulholland, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Mike O'Mara, Miss Josephine Woods and Mrs. Clarence Cox of La Crosse; Mrs. Theron Dodd, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woods and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Woods and family, Prairie du Chien; Mrs. W.B. Schoening of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Sheriff, Houston, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Cornford, Justine Dreml, Mrs. Wm. Foley, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Foley, Mr. and Mrs. George Foley, Mr. George Wing Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Steinberg, and Mrs. Rose Pitzer, all of Prairie du Chien.
