George W. Meyer, 89, Caledonia, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 1977, in Caledonia Healthcare Center, Caledonia, Minn.

He was born May 17, 1888, in New Albin, to Fredrick and Catharina (Kruckenburg) Meyer. He married Elizabeth Murphy on June 18, 1924, at Freeburg, Minn., and they farmed in the Caledonia area until his retirement in 1952.

Survivors are his widow; a son, Norman, of Fall River, Mass.; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Nancy) Abicht or Burnsville, Minn., and Mrs. Judith Tschumper of Apple Valley, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herman of New Albin, and William of Scales Mound, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Loeffler and Mrs. Laura Wuennecka, both of New Albin.

He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Steffen Funeral Home, Caledonia, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church. Rev. Charles J. Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday, with a Rosary to be at 8 p.m.
