Funeral services were held Friday at the Schutte Funeral Home for Walter C. Brandt, 63, who passed away at his home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on July 17. He was formerly of this community. The rites were in charge of Rev. R. C. Schlueter of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Walter Christ Brandt, son of the late Henry Brandt and his wife Mary, nee Harnack, was born August 15, 1889 in Allamakee county, Postville, Iowa, and was baptized in early infancy. After instructions in the Lutheran doctrine he was confirmed with the class of 1903 in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville.

In 1907, at the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and was still employed by the government when suddenly stricken ill.

In April, 1919, he was united in marriage to Miss Louise Foels of this city. They made their home in Scranton, Williamsburg, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and on June 12, 1940 his wife passed away in Philadelphia. On July 7, 1953, word was received by his mother, and he was critically ill and he passed away at 2:15 a.m. on July 17 at the age of 63 years, 11 months, and two days.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Schroeder, of this city; one sister, Mrs. Velma Neverman of Waukon, and one brother, Gilbert Schroeder of Postville, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, father and one sister
