A six months old baby died Sunday afternoon at Postville Hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident about eight miles northeast of Postville on highway 51.
The infant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcellus P. Quandahl of Waukon, was thrown against the tuning knob of a radio in the Quandahl car causing a skull fracture in a head-on collision.
The accident took place about 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Quandahl car traveling south, entered a curve and veered toward the center of the road striking head-on with a car driven by Harold Opsand, according to Highway Patrolman Robert Janett.In the Quandahl car in addition to the baby were the father, 34, who received a broken jaw and cut chin, his wife, Ruth, 25, who suffered a broken arm and sprained ankle, and two boys, David L. and Dean E. Quandahl, who were uninjured.
Opsand was driving a 1950 Chrysler owned by Torkelson Motor Company of Elgin. He suffered chest and shoulder injuries and a cut on the forehead. Mrs. Opsand, 53, riding with him, received painful chest and shoulder injuries and her knee was hurt.
The injured were all taken to the Postville Hospital for treatment.
Damage to the Quandahl car was estimated at $1,200. Damage to the Opsand car was estimated at $750.

No actual obit could be found for Frederick. His father's obit is posted on this obit board. Both are buried in the Salem Cemetery.
