Waukon- A former state senator and mayor of Waukon, Thomas W. Mullaney, 75, died Saturday at his home.
Services for Mr. Mullaney will be from Bakke and Hanson Funeral Home to St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Mullaney served as Democratic state senator for the 40th District in 1932-36. He was mayor of Waukon from November 1955 to March 1958. Mr. Mullaney, a retired farmer, also ran for Congress in 1952 against incumbent Henry O. Talle. He declined to run for reelection as mayor of Waukon this year because of ill health.
He also was well known throughout northeast Iowa as an auctioneer.
Mr. Mullaney leaves his wife, the former Mary Lydon of Postville; a son, Thomas, Minneapolis; three daughters, Ellen and Mrs. James Showers, both of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. R. C. Riehle, Des Moines; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Slattery, Waterville, Mrs. John O'Brien, rural Waukon, and Mrs. Margaret Ryan, Wilmette, Ill.
