Funeral services are being held at 2:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 14, for Louise Helen Kahle, who died Sunday, June 11 at Veteran's Memorial Hospital, Waukon. The Rev. Norris Swenson will officiate. Burial will be in the Postville Cemetery.
Louise was born November 16, 1899 on a farm in Clayton county. At an early age she moved with her parents to a farm in Clermont township and attended the Henderson-Prairie (sic) school in Fayette county. Her parents were Hans Herman Plaht and Fredericka Thies Plaht.
Louise was baptized February 26, 1900 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville and confirmed by Pastor Kuhne April 5, 1914, also at St. Paul's. She was a lifelong member as well as an honor roll member of the LCW.
February 12, 1925 she was married to Alvin Kahle and they farmed west of Postville until retiring in 1960 and moving to Postville. She was a lifelong member of the Rebekah Lodge, the West Post club, Senior Citizens and had hobby interests in arts and crafts.
Her husband Alvin preceded her in death in 1972. A sister Hilma, and two brothers, Edwin and Walter, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sister Mrs. Fred (Emma) Thoma, three nieces and nephews.
