Emeline M. Jeglum, 92, of Waukon, IA, died Monday, November 26, 2012, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1st, at 11:00 a.m. at Old East Paint Creek Church in rural Waterville, IA, with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Emeline Marcella Jeglum was born May 18, 1920, on the Center Township rural Waterville, IA farm of her parents John T., Sr. and Clara S. (Kolsrud) Rema. She was baptized and confirmed at the Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, where she remained a lifelong member. She attended the rural "Elon School" in Center Township and graduated from Waukon High School in 1938.

On February 14, 1942, she married James Jeglum in Kentucky. They farmed in Paint Creek Township for 34 years, living on a "Century" farm which was settled by James' parents. They retired from the farm and moved to Waukon in 1976. After moving, she worked in the dietary department at the Good Samaritan Center for six years. James died on May 26, 1985.

Emeline was a faithful member of Old East Paint Creek Church; she was active in WELCA and church circles, taught Sunday school for many years, and she and James sang in the church choir. She was also a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center and the Adopt-a-Grandparent program in the Allamakee Community Schools for many years. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, traveling, was an avid reader, and loved to spend time with family and friends.

Emeline is survived by her son Boyd (Carol) Jeglum of Waterville; two grandchildren: Thea (Eric) McKee and Brian (Amy) Jeglum; two great-grandchildren: Haylee and Hannah Jeglum; a sister Florence (Milton) Lind of Phoenix, AZ; a sister-in-law Ione Rema of Waterville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; and two brothers: John and Norman Rema.

Honorary castetbearers are Gary Volz, Tom Lind, Mark Cayton, and Jim Rema. Casketbearers are Brian Jeglum, Eric McKee, Jim Evanson, Randy Rema, Ray Svendson, and Bill Roe, Jr.
