Lansing - Beverly Fitz, 72, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in Thornton Manor Care Center. There will be no services. Her body was cremated. Arrangements by Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home, Lansing.

She is survived by a stepbrother in Urbandale.

She was born Nov. 14, 1927, in Goshen, Ind., to Clint and Mabel Baykin Custer. She graduated from high school in Des Moines. In January 1946, she went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring in February 1978. On June 6, 1948, she married Charles Fitz in Des Moines. He preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1990. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lansing.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two stepmothers.
