Waukon - Julia Whalen, 73, died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, in Northgate Manor Care Center after a long illness. Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Lycurgus. Friends may call from 3 to 9 P.M. at Hanson Funeral Home, Waukon, where there will be a Scripture service at 4 and rosary at 7 P.M.

Survivors include three sisters, Anna Mae Curtin and Dorothy Davis, both of Waukon, and Delores McDowell of Cedar Rapids; and three brothers, Emmett of Elkader, Jim of Augusta, Wis., and Dan of Eugene, Ore.

Instead of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund.
