Dubuque - Oscar J. Haas, well-known local optometrist, passed away at the home, 1266 Central avenue, Tuesday evening at 9 o'clock. He had been ill for a long time.

The body is at the Egelhof mortuary, where funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in the cemetery at Lansing Friday afternoon.

Mr. Haas was born in Lansing, Jan. 8, 1879, the son of the late Jacob and Pauline Haas, Lansing. He had resided in Dubuque for the past 45 years and had practiced optometry for the past quarter of a century.

He was married Dec. 31, 1901, to Miss Dora E. Moory, Streator, Ill., who, with a son, Theodore, survives him.

Mr. Haas was a member of the Metropolitan Lodge, No. 49, A.F. and A.M.; Dubuque Chapter, No. 3, Royal Arch Masons; Dubuque Council, No. 3, Royal and Super Excellent Masters; Siloam Commandery, No. 3, Knights Templar; De Molay Consistory, Clinton; a life member of the Kaaba Temple Shrine, Davenport; Julien Chapter, No. 125, Order of Eastern Star; Jephthah Shrine, No. 20, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Oxus Grotto, and Low Twelve club. He was also affiliated with the Benevolent Order of Elks and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He had a life membership in the Iowa State Optometric society and American Optometric society.

Mr. Haas was a man of sterling qualities and was admired by innumerable friends who extend their heartfelt sympathy to the grief-stricken relatives.
