Andrew W. Hupp was born in Galena, Il., Aug. 29, 1851 and passed away at his home in Gordon, NE., Sep. 30, 1924.

When but a small boy he came with his parents to Lansing, Iowa where he resided until 1877 when he emmigrated with his young wife to Nebraska. This wife and five children have preceded him in death.

Mr. Hupp came to Gordon in 1885 and suffered all the hardships of the early pioneer. He has seen this country as it grew from the frontier of the great west into the settled country of today. He suffered and prospered with his chosen community and for a number of years he has been retired making his home in east Gordon.

On August 11, 1896 he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Boyles of Gordon, who with their daughter Marjory survive him.

For eight years Mr. Hupp served as chief of police here and was known as one of the most fearless men who ever executed the duties of that hard position.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mrs. Minnie Hupp, Marjory, and his son Albert, Mrs. Emma Cullins of Iowa, another daughter, and three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Trayer of Lansing, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Hecker of Postville, Iowa and Mrs. Louise Endres of Albert Lea, Minn.
