Lifetime Allamakee County resident, Alvin C. Thompson 90, of Waukon died Saturday April 11, 1992 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were set for Wednesday, April 15 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He was born Oct. 28, 1901 in Round Prairie area of Makee Township to Albert and Karen “Carrie” (Johnson) Thompson and attended rural Paulk School in Makee Township. Oct. 28, 1943 he and Evelyn Leikvold were married at St. John’s parsonage.

He farmed most of his life but did some trucking and cream hauling also. Alvin, also a carpenter and woodworker, built houses, barns and other buildings. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Thompson of Ft. Dodge and Theresa Leikvold of Waukon; four nephews, Harlan Thompson of Wykoff, MN, Dayton Hazen, and Lyle and Dale Leikvold, all of Waukon, and a niece, Julie Stietz of South Wayne, IN.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Clara Crowley, Mabel and Selma Thompson, and two brothers, Herman and Lloyd Thompson.

Casket bearers are Bill Steffenson, Donald Lyon, Richard Hanson, Eugene Knudtson, Ray Sweeney and Roger Pladsen.
