Mrs. John Thill, former resident of Waukon and well known in this vicinity by her maiden name, Nellie Dasher passed away Friday morning (June 12 according to the obit, June 1 according to Woodmansee records) in her home at Dubuque after an extended illness. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Dasher, the deceased was born at Minonk, Illinois on October 16, 1891 (1892 according to her gravestone) where she spent her early life. About 35 years ago, the family moved to Iowa and resided in Waukon for a number of years where the deceased had held the friendship of many who were deeply grieved to learn of her passing. Mrs. Thill is remembered here as being exceptionally capable and attractive in personality and appearance.
She was married to John J. Thill in 1913 and the couple resided in Dubuque during the greater part of their married life.
Surviving to mourn her passing are her husband, three sons, Ensign Robert Thill of the Naval Reserve Corps stationed at Honolulu, Hawaii, and JOhn Jr. and Charles, both at home, her mother, Mrs. Mary Dasher of Waukon and one brother, Harry Dasher of Waukon, She was preceded in death by her father and one daughter.
Funeral services were held in the Didesch Funeral home at Dubuque Monday morning and the the remains were brought to Waukon for services in Martin's Funeral home in the afternoon. Burial was in Oakland cemetery here with the Rev. J.A. Young, former Waukon pastor, but now of Dubuque officiating.
