Waukon, Ia., Feb 4 - Funeral services were held at the Rossville Baptist church Thursday afternoon for Mrs. J.E. Rush, who died at her home in Franklin township Tuesday after a lingering illness. Services were conducted by the Rev. Williard Johnson of the Baptist church of Waukon and burial was made in the Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Rush was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Denning, pioneer residents of that vicinity. Her maiden name was Amanda Denning, she being about 63 years of age. Her entire life was spent in Allamakee county.
Besides her husband she is survived by seven children, two children preceding her in death. The surviving children are as follows: Leslie, Cresco; Jesse, Lansing; Mrs. Vern Thornton, Franklin township; Ray, Dewey; Mrs. Clay Walters and Mrs. Richard Stahl, Jefferson township. One brother, Hiram Denning of Waukon also survives.

The Woodmansee book lists burial in Rossville cemetery, rather than Evergreen. She has a gravestone in the Rossville cemetery.
