Waukon, Ia., Feb. 3 - Salby Stillwell, 23, son of Mrs. Martha Stillwell of Waukon, was fatally injured in a train accident in St. Louis, Mo., early Tuesday morning. He was employed as a chemist at a steel plant in Granite City, Mo. (suburb of St. Louis) and the accident occurred when he was on his way to work.

Full details of the accident had not been learned by Mrs. Stillwell Tuesday, but the information she received was that her son had fallen beneath the train and it passed over his legs. He was taken to a St. Louis hospital where both legs were amputated in an effort to save his life. He died shortly after.

Salby Stillwell was born in Waukon in 1909. He graduated from Waukon high school and later attended the University of Iowa at Iowa City for two years.

He is survived by his widow, two small children, his mother and two brothers, John Stillwell and Richard Stillwell. Mrs. Stillwell and her sister, Mrs. John Hager, left Tuesday afternoon for St. Louis. No funeral arrangements have been arranged as yet.

Salby Stilwell should be Falby Stilwell. He is listed in the Woodmansee book as buried in Oakland, 1920 Addition. His gravestone is inscribed Falby C. Stilwell. DOB on gravestone is 1907 rather than 1909 as in the Telegraph-Herald obit.

Waukon, Ia., Feb 8 - Funeral services were held at the Mrs. Martha Stilwell home Friday afternoon for Falby Stilwell, eldest son of Mrs. Martha Stilwell, who was killed while crossing through the freight yards in St. Louis Monday evening, while on his way home from work as a chemist for the American Steel company at Granite City, a suburb of St. Louis. The Rev. E.E. Clements, pastor of the Methodist church, had charge of the services.

Casket bearers were Gordon O'Brien, Boyd Woodmansee, Lyle Simon, Herbert Taylor, Kermit Buntrock and James Taylor. Burial was made in the family lot at Oakland cemetery.

Deceased was born in Waukon in August, 1907. He graduated in 1924 from the Waukon high school and attended State university at Iowa City two years, going from there to St. Louis, where he had since been employed.

He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Esther Martin of St. Louis, and two small sons, Floyd and Robert, aged 4 and 1 years respectively. He also leaves his mother and two brothers, John, a student at Ames, and Richard, a student of the Waukon high school.
