Leone Folsom Morrison

Funeral Services for Leone Folsom Morrison, age 84, of Osage, were held
Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at the United Church of Christ in Osage with Rev.
Robert Melhorn officiating. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery. She died
Monday October 20, 2003 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.

Leone was born November 19, 1918 at Postville, Iowa in Allamakee County
the daughter of Alonzo and Hazel (Harris) Folsom. She attended schools
in Allamakee County until 1934 when she moved with her parents to Osage,
Iowa. She graduated from Orchard High School in 1936 and took post
graduate work in Osage school. She taught country school in Mitchell
County, was active in Extension work in the county and was also a 4-H
leader. She was baptized at Community Presbyterian Church at Postville.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Osage for 69 years.

Leone was active in the women's work of the church and held many offices
of the church. She taught Sunday School for 20 years. She was also a
member of Eastern Star since 1949 and worked with the Rainbow Girls
for several years. She was a member of Grand Cross of Colors of Rainbow
and of WaTanYe Service Club. She married Max Morrison on Oct. 21, 1937
in Mason City, and they were the parents of 4 children: Larry, Murray
(deceased), Judenne, and Richard.

They farmed for forty years and retired in Osage in 1979. Some of her
many interests were enjoying her family, flower gardens, and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Murray Morrison,
a grandson David Todd Morrison, and two sisters, Mabel Simpson of
Minneapolis, Minnesota and Grace Havlicek of Monona.

She is survived by her husband, Max Morrison; two sons: Larry and his
wife Cherie of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Richard and his wife DiDi of
Oakland, Minnesota; daughter Judenne Kocer of Cedar Rapids; seven
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; eight step grandchildren
and 11 step great-grandchildren.

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Inc., Osage, was in charge of arrangements.
