Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services for Dr. John B. Dowling, 82, retired dentist, who died Friday at the Odd Fellows' Home, Green Bay, Wis., were held at the Martin Brothers' Funeral Parlors Sunday afternoon. The Rev. L.D. Eaton, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiated. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Dr. Dowling was born Feb. 17, 1862, in Adamsville, Pa., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Dowling. The family came to Waukon when he was a child and where the father was engaged as a blacksmith. After completing his high school education here, Dr. Dowling studied dentistry in Chicago, where he was married to Miss Hattie Coble, about 47 years ago. After practicing in Chicago a number of years, he returned to Waukon, where he continued in his profession. He later practiced at Ferryville and Superior, Wis. His wife died at the latter place, and burial was made here. There were no children.

Surviving are Robert and Nels Steele, of Waukon, cousins, and Mrs. Mattie McMillian Gibbs, a niece; and John and Dowling McMillian, all of Chicago, nephews.
