Leo McCabe

Leo J. McCabe of Waukon, age 91, passed away after a short illness Monday, September 9, 2013 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, officiated by Fr. James Dubert. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon. Friends may call Wednesday, September 11 from 3-7 p.m. at Hanson Funeral Home in Waukon.
Casketbearers are Kurt McCabe, Josh Plein, Justin Plein, Tracy McCabe, Aaron McCabe and Bill McCabe. Honorary casketbearer is Thomas McCabe. Hanson Funeral Home assisted the family.
Leo was born September 18, 1921 in Waukon, the son of Thomas John Henry and Anna Florence (Sweeney) McCabe. He married Teresa Veronica Becker June 18, 1946 in Waukon. Leo worked as a farmer and loved gardening, playing cards, dancing, spending time with his grandchildren, and he very much enjoyed time spent on the farm. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Janice (Chris) Miles of West Union, Jerry (Mary)McCabe of Waukon, Dale McCabe of Baraboo, WI, Patrick (Pam) McCabe of Cedar Rapids, Thomas (Deb) McCabe of Waukon and MaryEllen (McCabe) Mango of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Leroy Anton McCabe of Waukon; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Veronica McCabe; his sisters, Francis (McCabe) Foley and Jeanette (McCabe) White; a brother, James McCabe; and his parents, Thomas John Henry and Anna Florence McCabe.
