HARVEY L. BURROUGHS DIES IN IOWA CITY HOSPITAL AT AGE 64

Harvey L. Burroughs, 64, of Vinton, died Sunday (14 May 1961) at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient for the last 11 weeks. He had been in failing health for the past year.

Mr. Burroughs, a retired farmer, was born in Dorchester, Ia., Aug. 29, 1896, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Burroughs. He married Margaret Gabbett at Waterloo in January of 1923. She died in Mt. Auburn in 1933. He married Florence Lunger in Vinton April 15, 1934.

Surviving are his widow, one daughter. Mrs. Roy Henry of Vinton, a son, Delbert, at home, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Earl Gordon of Blairstown, one stepson, Warren O'Donnell of Davenport, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four brothers, Lawrence Burroughs of Caledonia, Minn., and Manford Burroughs of Cedar Falls, and three sisters, Mrs. John O'Hare of Waukon, Mrs. Alice Creasey of St. Joe, Cal., and Mrs. Robert Moore of California.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Clifford Kissinger will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the George G. Luckey Post No. 57, American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home.
