Obituary of Wed., April 20, 1898, Waukon Republican
At his home near Waukon, April 18, 1898 from injuries received in an accident on the 6th Charles Dravis Sr., age 67 yrs. 6 months and 21 days, died.
He came to this country from near Bremen, Germany in 1858 and settled first east of Waukon on the "Meier" place and afterwards moved on to the farm occupied by him so many years, then for a few years in town till he recently returned to the farm. He had been married about 40 years and to them were born seven boys and one girl, all of whom living who with his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Stock and Mrs. Schormann of Jasper County are left to mourn his loss. The funeral will take place tomorrow, the 21st at 9:30 A.M. at the house and proceedings from there to the German Church in Waukon and the remains will be buried in the German cemetery.
He was a member of the German Reformed Church, a good husband, father, citizen and consistent Christian.

Chas. Draves(sic), an old resident of Jefferson township, died suddenly last Monday evening aged about 65 years. If we are not mistaken he was the father of Theodore Draves who formerly lived here.
