Obituary from the Waukon Democrat August 17, 1932
Lifelong Resident Of County Called To Rest
The death of August H. Kosbau occurred at the home of his son, Edward east of town, shortly before midnight on Saturday last. Heart trouble with its complications was the cause of his demise, following a two weeks' illness.
Mr. Kosbau was born on the old home farm where his death occurred on August 30, 1859, and was nearing his 73rd birthday. He was united in marriage here at Waukon on February 28, 1888, with Miss Anna Kropfganz. To this union were born eight children, two of whom, Charlotte and William, died in infancy and another daughter, Mrs. C.W. Klees of Rossville, met an untimely death a year or more ago in an auto accident. The surviving children are Edward, Otto, George, Albert and Clarence, all of the vicinity, who with their mother mourn the passing of a dear husband and father. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Caroline Krugner of this city.
The years ago Mr. and Mrs. Kosbau left their farm and purchased a home in the northeast part of town where they resided until last April when they returned to the farm operated by their son, Edward.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Zion Reformed church, conducted by Rev. DeBuhr of Ludlow in the absence of Rev. Stucki. Burial was in Oakland cemetery. The pall bearers were Wm. Bechtel, Bert Dee, Henry Brandsmeier, August Stock, Chas. Hansmeier and Geo. Wacker.
