Rites Thursday for Dr. Herrig, Dentist
Algonians were shocked to learn of the death of Dr. Joseph P. Herrig, former Algona dentist, at Bellevue, Iowa, Sunday morning from a heart attack. His wife, Domic, was visiting in Algona over the weekend at the Pat Cullen residence and learned of his death early Sunday morning. She stopped here after visiting with her parents at Albert Lea, Minn.Funeral services for Dr. Herrig, who was 49 years old, will be held today at the Bellevue Catholic church with burial there.
Dr. Herrig came to Algona in 1945 after serving in the Army during World War 2. He attended St. Mary's at Winona, Minn., and later graduated from Creighton University of Omaha with a degree in denistry. The Herrigs lived here until about three years ago, when he returned to his hometown of Bellevue to set up practice. Survivors include his wife; three children, Kathryn, Jane . and Charles and three brothers, six sisters and the mother.
