While hauling hay on his father's farm in Allamakee county on June 9, Otto Dieters, son of Henry Dieters, was instantly killed. It seems that the young man had come in from the field with a load to put into the barn, and after fastening the fork into the load, and not being properly adjusted it pulled out, striking the young man in the breast.
