MICHAEL JAMES KERNAN

Michael James Kernan, 34, of Grandview, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 1995 at Providence Hospital in Yakima after a brief illness.

Mike was born Feb. 15, 1960 in Sunnyside to Cyril and Eileen Kernan. He was raised and attended school in Mabton. Here he met his wife, Mary Ancira.

Mike and Mary started their family in Mabton prior to moving to Denver, Colo., where he worked in construction. After returning to Mabton/Sunnyside area, Mike, Mary and their son Nathan, made their home in Grandview. Mike worked in the farming and construction industries at various locations throughout Washington and Alaska. His love for the outdoors, golfing and hunting was outweighed only by his great love3 of watching his son Nathan and his friends participating in sports.

Mike is survived by is wife, Mary and son Nathan of Grandview; his mother, Eileen of Sunnyside; two brothers Rick and wife Cindy of Sunnyside and Dan of Kennewick; and four sisters, Kathy and husband Don Talbot of Richland, Pat Kernan of Sunnyside, Shannon and husband Darrell Hugie of Mabton; his mother and father-in-law; several brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law and their families; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by a brother David, and his father Cyril.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held Monday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Sunnyside Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home, corner of North Avenue and North 11th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview. Burial will follow in the Mabton Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday until 7 p.m. Services are under the direction of Valley Hills Funeral Home.
