Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services were held here Thursday afternoon at the Pleumer & Hanson Funeral Home for Mrs. Ella Carpenter, 79, with the Rev. August Grossheim, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Emil Leschensky, C.H. Megorden, Lyle Simon, Dee Cowan, Linn Hardon, and Dr. Warren Hayes.
Mrs. Carpenter died Tuesday at the Allamakee County Home where she had been living for some time.
She was the former Ella Klinkel and was born May 10, 1863 at Rossville, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klinkel. She was married Sept. [either 13th or 18th], 1883 to William Carpenter, a barber, who died Oct. 7, 1917.
Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Florence Herman of Waukon, Mrs. Frank Waldron of Chicago, and Mrs. Hugh Shepherd of Omaha, Neb.; a twin sister, Mrs. Frank Koontz of Minneapolis, and another sister, Mrs. Henry McGoon of St. Paul; and a brother, Levil Klinkel of Charles City.
