Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services were held here Wednesday morning at St. Patrick's Church for Edward Madden, 78, former Allamakee County resident who died Monday at St. Paul. The Rev. E.J. McDonald, pastor, celebrated the requiem mass and burial was in the family lot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Madden was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Madden and he was born in Winneshiek County in 1862. He spent his youth in this vicinity, going from here to Monona, where he was a horse trainer. He later went to St. Paul, where he followed his trade.

Surviving are two half-sisters: Miss Mayme McDermott of Waukon and Mrs. Frank Ryan of Jefferson Township; two half-brothers, Thomas McDermott of Waukon and Michael McDermott of Jefferson Township.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
