Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 24 for Eda Kathryn Gordon, 80, who died Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. The 11 a.m. services were conducted by Fr. Ed Lechtenberg at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime area resident, she was born Jan. 1, 1911 in Lansing Township, Allamakee County, to John and Kathryn Freilinger Geinzer and attended Gruber School near Lansing. Feb. 28, 1938 she married Fred A. Gordon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing. They farmed near New Albin for five years, then east of Waukon before moving to Waukon in 1973.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and its Rosary Society.
Surviving are two sons, Ervin of Waukon and Fred of Dorchester; five daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Mabel) Turner of Garland, TX, Mrs. Lee (Virginia) Driskill of St. Paul, MN, Mrs. Verland (Ellen) Lenth of Monona, Mrs. Jim (Alyce) May of Waukon, and Mrs. Kermit (Dianne) Martin of Waterville; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother, George Geinzer of Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died July 15, 1983; a son Leo, in infancy; a sister, Elizabeth Gordon, and two brothers, Frank and Andrew Geinzer.
Casket bearers were Greg and David Gordon, Darrel Wicks, Mike Ferring, Mike Lenth and Lee Driskill.
