Lansing, Ia. - James Schisler, 79, former city marshal, died here Sunday night at 11 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eda Kelly, a half hour after he was stricken with a heart attack. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter with the Rev. Lloyd Bartholomew, pastor of the Federated Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Schisler was born April 18, 1861 near Viroqua, Wis., a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schisler. He was married there April 13, 1885 to Hattie Blanchard and 50 years ago they came to Lansing. He served as marshal here for nine years, after which he followed the stone mason and cement working trade.
His wife died in 1913. A son and a daughter also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Evelyn Snell of Plymouth, and Laura and Mrs. Kelly, both of Lansing; one son, Delbert of Chicago; three grandchildren and one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Wareham of Hollywood, Calif., and a brother, Henry of Aitken, Minn.
