Charlene Schulze
Charlene M. Schulze, 82, of Clinton, formerly of Sabula, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Mercy Living Center North. Cremation rites with a graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Sabula at a later date.
Charlene was born April 23, 1931 in Lansing, the daughter of George and Martha (Glynn) Whalen. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School. She married Theodore Haerer in 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1948. She later married William J. Schulze February 20, 1950, and he preceded her in death November 4, 1984.
Charlene worked at the Ordinance Depot in Savanna and the Speaker Factory in Sabula and was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Sabula and then St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Preston.
Charlene was a collector of Capodimonte porcelain. She enjoyed fishing, music, crossword puzzles, shopping and playing cards.
Charlene loved her family and loved spending as much time with her grandchildren as she could.Charlene is survived and lovingly remembered by her children and their families, Ted Haerer of La Crescent, MN, William Schulze of Sabula, Amy Jo Ketelsen of Camanche, and Scott Schulze of Clinton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bernadine Mulholland of Cedar Rapids and Barbara Mulholland of Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a niece and nephew; one grandchild; and three brothers, John, George and Greg Whalen.
