Shirlee Ann Livingood was born April 3, 1938, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Fred “Andy” and Clara (Olson) Fiet. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1956. After graduating secretarial school in Omaha, NE, Shirlee worked for the Navy Department in Washington, D. C.
On May 4, 1958, she married Clifford Livingood at the First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, and the two farmed near Rossville, IA. Shirlee and Cliff owned and operated the Sportsmen’s Club in Rossville for many years; Shirlee continued running the business after Cliff’s death in 1978. After moving to Waukon, she worked for several years as the manager of the Waukon Living Center.
She was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church. Shirlee loved to play cards and pool, and was known as quite the “shark”. In her later years, she enjoyed knitting and doing puzzles. Shirlee was always a hard worker, but also had a good sense of humor and liked to tease people.
