Caroline Noble was born in Erie Co., __, January 8, 1839, and died at the home of her son, near Waukon, Iowa, October 27, 1917, aged 78 years, 9 months and 19 days.
She came with her parents to Jackson county when only two years of age, so that she has been a longer resident in the state than most of those her age. At an early day the family moved to Monona where they waited for the Indians to be removed from this country. From there they removed to Postville when she was ten years old, and there she remained until her marriage.
She attended college at Fayette, graduating with one of the earliest classes, and taught school for several years.
She was united in marriage with Francisco Dunning in January 1862, they going to live on a farm near Luana which was her home until 1910 when she came to Waukon and has since resided with her son.
Three children were born, all of whom are still living: Mrs. Julius Na_l of West Union; John Dunning of McGregor; and Frank Dunning of Waukon. The husband and father passed away February 6, 1907. She also leaves 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 13 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services were at the Presbyterian church. Burial in the Hardin cemetery.- Waukon Standard.
