Sophie Minnie Schroeder was born February 9, 1872, in Clayton county. (Some sentences missing.) She was married to Henry Kahle, their union being blessed with one son and two daughters- Alvin, Emma and Mabel. She died on Saturday, June 16, 1917, aged 45 years, 4 months and 7 days, after a week's illness from pneumonia.

She was a quiet unassuming woman, a good wife, mother, neighbor and friend, whose passing will be mourned by all who knew her.

The funeral, which was one of the largest ever held in Postville, was held Tuesday, June 19th, from St. Paul's Lutheran church, Rev. E. Schmidt officiating. Interment in Postville cemetery.

Besides the husband and three children she is survived by one brother, Geo. J. Schroeder, and one sister, Mrs. Chris Poesch, both of Postville.
