James Andrew Schulte, 89, Postville, Iowa, was born May 7, 1922 in Dorchester, Iowa. He passed away Monday, February 13, 2012, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa. He was eighty-nine years old. James was the son of Andrew Henry and Katherine (Griffin) Schulte. He served with the U.S. Army from 1943 – 1944 and was stationed in Minnesota and Maryland. James was united in marriage with Lorna Kugel on November 17, 1962. Two sons were born to this union. James was an over the road trucker and he built many houses in the Postville and Cedar Rapids areas.
James is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Lorna, of Postville; two sons, Joseph Schulte of Omaha, Nebraska; and Daniel (Lori) Schulte of Anamosa, IA.; three grandsons, Nikolaus, Joshua, and Kolin Schulte; three brothers, Andrew, Donald, and R. Gregory (Sue) Schulte all of Phoenix, AZ.; and one sister, Kathryn (Francis) Stortz of Waukon, IA.
James was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Kenneth, Robert, and Ralph Schulte.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Postville.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 P.M. on Friday, February 17, 2012, at Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville and one hour before mass time at the church on Saturday. A parish rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
Internment will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at St. Mary Lycurgus Cemetery, rural Waukon, Iowa.
Grau Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
