Postville Review, Saturday, 9 April 1881.

A private note from Waukon says that the funeral of Smith Manson, killed accidentally on R.R. near Whitewater, Wisconsin, will take place today, in the M.E. church, at 2 o'clock p.m. The body reached here about 7 o'clock last evening in charge of Maj. Reed, who had gone to Whitewater as soon as news of the accident reached Waukon.

NOTE: Smith T. Manson 3-16-1841 / 4-13-1881, is shown in the Woodmansee burial book as buried in Waukon Oakland (Main) cemetery in lot 601, same as 6 other Manson burials. Note the discrepancy between the date of the newspaper and the death date given in the Woodmansee.

Submitter is not related.

There was a notice of death in the Waukon Standard for a Smith F. Manson 14 Mar 1841-03 Apr 1881. The 1860 Federal Census shows a Smith F. Manson age 19 living in Makee Township Allamakee County.

The date in Woodmansee of April 13, should be April 3.
