Postville Review, Fri., 1 Sept. 1899.

Lucy Hall was born in Liberty, Sullivan Co., NY, Dec, 20, 1840, and died at Lansing, Iowa, Aug. 23, 1899.

Bereft of her mother in early life, she was raised by her aunt, Mary Dodge, an eminent Christian lady, to whom she was indebted for her early educational and religious training. At 16 years of age she began teaching, in which occupation she continued until her marriage.

In 1863 she removed to Iowa in company with her cousin, Mrs. J. S. Mott, with whom she made her home. She was united in marriage with Norman J. Beedy, Nov. 10, 1868. To his three children, who still survive, Fred N., Ida M., and Carrie F., she became a mother indeed and they justly reviere her memory. To Mr. and Mrs. Beedy were born two children, Mamie H., who died Jan. 16, 1878, and Mabel L. who survives. Her three brothers are living, but her husband died Jan. 13, 1891.

About the first of April last, Mrs. Beedy's health gave way and she gradually failed until death brought relief at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday eve. August 23rd.

Sister Beedy was a lifetime member of the Methodist church and of the Postville society for 35 years. She was loyal to her church and zealous in it's departments of work. She was for many years Secretary of the Ladies' Aid Society and at one time financial steward of the church. She delighted in Sunday School and was faithful in attending prayer and class meetings. She would often ask God's blessing upon his word and direction in the secret place of prayer.

Some three years ago she become greatly interested in the work of the W.F.M.S. also in the W.C.T.U. and has been an honored member of both these organizations since. She was Supt. of the Loyal Temperance Region at Fayette and greatly enjoyed her work with the children.
