Postville Review, Fri., 26 Mar. 1915. (condensed).

After an illness of twelve days duration Walter Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Meyer of one mile north of Ossian, passed away at 3 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 1915, due to appendicitis and lung fever.

Deceased was born April 10, 1893, in Grand Meadow township, near Postville, at which place he resided with his parents until three years ago when he moved with them to Ossian, at which place he died. He was confirmed in the St. Paul's church in 1908, and was a member of the German church.

He is survived by his grief-stricken parents, three brothers and one sister, namely, Lawrence, Albert, Lloyd and Viola.

Funeral services were held at the home of his parents last Friday, after which the remains were taken to Postville, where services were held at St. Paul's church, Rev. Blessin and Rev. Schmidt officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. He was carried to his last resting place by his six cousins, namely, Fred and Louis Thoma, George Sebastian and Alvin, Arno and Fred Meyer. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Nolte, John Nolte of Burr Oak; Louis Shara of Prairie du Sac, Wis; Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Meyer of Cresco; Mr. and Mrs. Will Nolte and Mr. and Mrs. Simon Brandt of Ludlow. One hundred friends and neighbors accompanied the remains to Postville.
