Mrs. Barbara Thill was born in Moselle, France, Oct. 17, 1844, and died at Postville, Iowa, Feb. 27, 1915, in her seventy-first year. At the age of two and a half years she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steele, to America, and settled at Galena, Ill., and in 1856 they came to Allamakee Co., Iowa. Nov. 14, 1867, she was married to John Thill at Prairie du Chien, Wis. This union was blessed with ten children, five sons and five daughters, namely - Christena, Mrs. Anna Sheehy, Christopher (dead), Joseph, Ortonville, Minn.; Frank and William, Durand, Wis.; Catherine (dead), Mrs. John Horgan, Mrs. Joe Hecker, John.
The family came to Postville in 1880 and have resided here continuously since.
Mrs. Thill had been in failing health for a number of years, when on Saturday morning last she was suddenly summoned to her reward while seated in her chair at home. But she was prepared for the transition, her house was in order, she having been a devout Catholic for many years.
She was a devoted wife, true mother and good neighbor and friend, who neglected no duty and in her humble and quiet way ministered to the comfort of many she met along the way. And to those who mourn her loss goes out the tenderest sympathy of many friends.
The funeral was held from the Catholic church in this city Tuesday morning, Rev. J. J. Clune and Rev. M. J. Hogan officiating. Interment in the Clermont cemetery.

Hartwig, East Dubuque, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Mat. Konzen and Mrs. John Schultz, Caledonia, Minn.; Dan Steele and Mrs. B. F. Dasher, Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steele and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Steele, Monona; Mayme Horgan, Reynolds, N.D.; Harry Pomeroy, Monona.
