Charley Bates, a son of the late Hank Bates, died Oct. 31, at Lincoln, Neb., from injuries received in an auto accident the evening before, when his car skidded and overturned, pinning him beneath it, crushing his chest and badly bruising his head. He was manager of the Shogo Lythia Bottling Works at Lincoln. He was born in Postville, Jan. 29, 1881, and is survived by a wife and daughter, his mother, two sisters and two daughters. He was buried at Marshalltown. He was a member of the Elks and Loyal Order of Moose.
