Marlin Paul Schutte, 61, Postville, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Postville, Iowa. He was born on June 8, 1951 in Allamakee County to Harry G. and Mabel Alvina (Mueller) Schutte, Sr. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. Marlin graduated from MFL in 1969.
Marlin joined the U.S. Army on January 20, 1971. He was stationed in Germany and served in the Vietnam War as a Military Policeman. He was honorably discharged on January 12, 1973 with a rank of Specialist Grade E4. Marlin was united in marriage to Linda Amundson on April 12, 1975 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona and she died on February 27, 1976. He worked at Monona Wire, Northern Engraving and Iowa Turkey Products in Postville for twenty years.
Marlin is survived by his daughter, Christine L. (Andres) Loera of Postville; three grandchildren, Amanda Schutte, Cody Loera and Andrea Loera; a brother, Harry (Dyane) Schutte of Monona; two half sisters, Betty Hines of Dubuque and Viola (Dan) Goluba of McHenry, Illinois; half brother, Robert Schutte of Rockford, Illinois and a sister-in-law, Ruth Jauert of Decorah and many nieces and nephews..
Marlin was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents; two half brothers, Donald (Pat) Engelhardt and Duane Engelhardt and a half sister, Violet Larson.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. Fellowship will follow services in the church hall.
Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.
