Hannah A. Russell was born June 7, 1806, at Fairfax, Vermont, in which state she lived until 1868. Married Melvin McMaster in 1824, to whom were born two boys and four girls, four of whom are still living. In 1848 Mr. McMaster became an invalid, and died in 1874. During this long sickness of her husband, Mrs. McMaster provided for her children, educated them, cared for her husband and lived the life of a constant christian. She was converted at the age of 22, and united with the Baptist church, in which faith she died, Oct. 20, 1885. She was buried, Thursday Oct. 22d, at Grand Meadow, Iowa, by Rev. S. T. McKim. Services held at the house of her son M. Y. McMaster.
