Cora Swenson

Cora Ann (Leppert) Swenson, 78, of Waukon passed away Monday, Nov. 29 at the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis.

Mrs. Swenson was a long time Allamakee County resident, born June 7, 1904 to Andrew and Sarah (Bulman) Leppert. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, its ALCW and of the Waukon Senior citizens. She was also a news correspondent for the Allamakee Journal in Lansing. She and Lloyd Swenson were married in Waukon by Rev. Van Nice on Feb. 1, 1928.

He survives as do 3 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Schlitter of Allison, Lulu Patterson of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Milo (Marie) Timmerman of Monona; 2 sons, Arthur of Chatfield, Mn. and Hubert of Spring, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and a brother Ralph Leppert of Monona. She was preceded in death by a daughter Jeannine, a granddaughter Karen Lynn Timmerman, brothers James, Jess, Oscar, Willard, Dewey and Gilbert; and sisters Emma Oelberg and Lydia.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church at Waukon. The Rev. Marlyn Hansing officiated with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Swenson, Dale and Dean Schlitter, Terry Tilleraas and Kevin and Loren Timmerman. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff and Jamie Swenson, Michael Schlitter, Andrew Tilleraas and Ronald Patterson.
