Marion Gertrude Stock
Marion G. Stock, 80, of Waukon, died Sunday, December 10, 2000 at Veterans Memorial hospital in Waukon following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in rural Postville, IA, with Rev. James Walker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Marion Gertrude (Kiesau) Stock was born on May 27, 1920 on the rural Waukon farm of her parents, Albert and Inez (Goeke) Kiesau. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Church of Christ, attended early years at the Frankville School, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1939. On December 30, 1941, she married Robert O. Stock at his parents' home. Together Marion and Robert farmed the Stock home farm until moving to Waukon in 1984. She was an active and dedicated member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Aid and Bible Study.
Marion was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed doing handiwork. She also enjoyed raising flowers and baking and was noted for her Christmas candies. In recent years when her eyesight failed, she spent time listening to recorded hymns and books on tape. She liked getting together with friends and neighbors for coffee and loved making special times out of family events.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents, a son James in 1992, a brother Roland Kiesau, a sister Inez Thoma, and an infant sister, Mary. Survivors include her husband Robert O. Stock of Waukon, 2 daughters, Sue (Danny) Schlitter of Waukon and Mary (John) Holthaus of Dixon, IL. one son, Jack (Jan) Stock of Titonka, IA, a daughter-in-law Peggy Stock of Waukon, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Casket bearers were Cliff Christianson, Robert and Richard Hansmeier and Kent, Rob and Any Schlitter.
