Caroline Minna Margaretha Althouse, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Althouse, was born February 6, 1902, in Bloomfield township, Winnesheik county, Iowa.

June 8th, 1902, she received the sacrament of holy baptism at Postville, Iowa, by Rev. J. Appel. After chatechetical instruction she was confirmed April 16, 1916, at Postville Lutheran church by Rev. E. Schmidt.

The deceased had enjoyed good health until about two years ago when she was taken ill with influenza from which she never fully recovered. And on Sunday morning, November 11, 1923, at one o'clock p.m., she was called home to her eternal rest at the age of twenty-one years, nine months and four days.

She was a kind, loving and faithful daughter and sister. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a great lover of music. She bore her illness from the first on with great patience and without complaint.

She leaves to mourn her loss her mother and father, two brothers, Henry and Carl, and one sister, Emma, and many relatives and friends. One brother preceded her in death three years ago and another in infancy.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at two o'clock on Tuesday, Nov. 13, conducted by Rev. E. Schmidt. Interment in Postville cemetery.
